This watercolor breaks a rule in watercolor: Never use black. The reference was a black-and-white photograph of a farm in winter. I broke the rule and used only black and water to create shades and distance. When someone says you can’t, ask why not?

This is so ethereal, Joel Why not, indeed! It is good to know all the rules, so that then we can break them with intention. Just like in writing -- I rebel against the rule "show, don't tell".
